Arqiva tees off with TWI on the 2005 Golf Open Championships

Arqiva was central to TWI’s international golf coverage of both the 2005 Women's Weetabix Open and The Open Championship.
For the events, Arqiva provided Occasional Mobile services (SNG) with both single and three-channel multiplex capability, including space segment, turnaround and distribution services. In addition, TWI is using Arqiva’s satellite distribution and uplink services for European and South American coverage of the 2005-6 French Ligue 1 (Le Championnat) football season.
TWI’s Engineering Manager, Stephen Farr, said: “TWI, on behalf of the R&A, manages and distributes The Open Championship globally to many major broadcasters. Arqiva's Occasional Mobile services (SNG), offering versatile security on a multiplexed path, reliably and cost-effectively met the requirement to carry the continuous coverage and numerous unilateral feeds to customers, including The Golf Channel and ESPN."
“Arqiva is dedicated to innovative solutions to meet the challenges of broadcasters working on live events around the world,” said Andy Tweedley, Arqiva’s Head of Occasional Media. “Our three-channel multiplex Occasional Mobile services (SNG) with an individual-channel, RAS-capable truck is the first ever to be used at the Open and demonstrates Arqiva’s ability to tailor its services to all sports broadcasting requirements.”
