BBC Broadcast brands new VoD service

BBC Broadcast has created idents for a new barker channel provided by Belgacom TV that will showcase movies available through the Belgacom TV platform.
The movies will be available on a pay per view basis to Belgacom TV subscribers when the service launches later this year.
The new branding for the video on demand service will include a ‘leader’ ident that gives the channel a clear identity and illustrates its focus on family and fun. The branding package also includes five genre idents that signal to viewers the type of movies trailer coming up.
BBC Broadcast Creative Director, Steven Aspinall, explained: “When we created the new identity we utilised the circle shape used in the Belgacom TV logo. To create the leader ident we arranged brightly coloured circular objects including marbles, paint pots, balloons, flower petals and animated dots then interspersed these images with scenes of families having fun. This created a playful feel for the channel that reflects its entertaining content and signals to the audience that its time to settle into a couch and relax.”
The genre idents feature the Belgacom TV logo that has been placed as the central character in a series of 20 second ‘mini-movies’.
In the movies we see the logo chased through a forest, abducted by aliens, hiding from the police, playing on a roundabout and smooching in the moonlight on an ocean liner.
Aspinall continued: “These scenarios give the Belgacom TV brand a personality which helps create a connection with the viewers.”
Pascale Heesterbeek, Senior Project Coordination Manager at Belgacom, said: “The creation of the main leader ident and the branding of the barker channel is the start of a very exciting new service for Belgacom. We are delighted to be working in strategic partnership with BBC Broadcast whose creative expertise is helping us build an identity for Belgacom TV.”
Belgacom TV is operated by the biggest telecom company in Belgium and provides viewers with TV content on a digital platform through phone lines using ADSL technology.
