EVERYMAN PRESENTS ‘FILM CLUB’ BID

OWNERS of Everyman cinema in Hampstead are making a £1 million bid to turn the venue into a film club.
The proposal for the ‘film club’ would involve the retention of their independent programming flavour and the introduction of more premieres and foreign film seasons. The initiative is supported in principle by filmmaker Anthony Minghella and Brit Pack production company Natural Nylon.
Daniel Broch and Glynn Manson, who bought the cinema a year ago, developed the proposal – and if the redevelopment plan is approved by Camden Council, the cinema’s single screen would seat 200 people for public shows and private screenings, making it the country’s largest industry screening room. Tony Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Natural Nylon, said: “It’s a perfect fit with what we are trying to achieve at Natural Nylon, which is to fulfil a niche and cater to independent cinema and the requirements of people who want to see these sorts of films.”
If Camden councillors approve the scheme in January the cinema would close for four months in the middle of the forthcoming year.
