DB BROADCAST LAUNCH DETECTOR MODULE

CAMBRIDGESHIRE based systems integrator dB Broadcast have announced the launch of a number of new products, including a real-time SDV Hawkeye detector module (B047).
The unit can monitor two independent digital video input channels, or two signals in a main/redundant configuration to avoid single points of failure in the transmission path. The new module detects signal level and the presence of a carrier, signal lock and data rate. It also checks the timing reference signal (TRS) to see if it is missing or late and if error detection handling (EDH) packets are present. Local indications are provided on the front panel and remote status signals are provided via an open collector or summary relay alarm on the rear connector. The status information is also available on the DARTbus system.
The SDV detector is fully compatible with other dB modules in the Hawkeye range and on detecting a fault it can directly control a 2x1 switcher module to change from the main to the redundant signal. Alternatively, the SDV detector module can provide fault reports to a system controller.
