Quartz seals deal at IBC with Belgian public broadcaster VRT
Belgium's Public Broadcaster for the Flemish community, VRT has confirmed a recent order placed with Dutch systems solutions company, N.I.C.E.
The deal with N.I.C.E, Quartz Electronics distributor for Benelux, is for part of a system that will handle more international EBU signals. A 128x96 serial digital video router from the Quartz Xenon range will replace a 64x64 SDI router previously supplied by Quartz, to cope with expansion at the Brussels-based facility.
Patrick Van der Borgh, Head of Support TX-LCT has been impressed with Quartz since the purchase of it's first system in 2002: "The company has a good reputation throughout the industry and our experience with Quartz equipment and support services has always been excellent."
Van der Borgh added: "The Xenon is an easily configured router with great redundancy features for reliability, and it has all the flexibility we need for future developments because of its unique SPT modules."
SPTs are optional plug-in modules that add powerful features inside the multi-format router saving cost and space.
While most systems require external equipment for functionality like channel branding, multi-channel viewers and line/frame synchronisation, audio shuffling and even master control, Xenon can house all of these options, and more, under one roof.
The plug-in SPT modules have the capacity to be reprogrammed to perform different levels of functionality and new tasks without having to physically replace the hardware. Xenon's new Multi-Viewer SPT module and the Xenon Audio roadmap were seen for the first time at IBC.
Quartz recently marked their 15th anniversary.
Established in 1990, Quartz is a world leader in the development and manufacture of high quality routers and master control products.
