TARAN STUDIOS PLAN MAJOR FACILITIES UPGRADE

TARAN Studios, the Cardiff based Film and Television post-production facility, are planning a major facilities upgrade early in 2001.
There are plans to build an additional Film and Television mixing theatre to cope with the increase in the demand for Dolby Theatrical releases and high-end television drama.
The Head of facilities Darran Clement, describing the expansion, said: “A natural progression, not only giving Taran added capacity but also the capability of streamlining and increasing their efficiency in a highly competitive market.”
The expansion will also involve the installation of Dolby Surround EX capability in Theatre One to complement the existing Dolby Digital facility and also an upgrade of Theatre Three, which specialises in TV Documentary and Corporate projects.
Administrative head John Davies said: “Taran’s Foley Gallery, ADR/Voice recording, Sound Design and Rushes Rooms have also had a busy year and the introduction of a computerised studio bookings system has been a good investment, assisting in project planning and ensuring that clients’ deadlines are met.”
Taran ends 2000 with the completion of a series of family films for the Disney Channel, 'Labour of Love', a drama series for S4C documenting the history of the Labour party, and a feature 'The Hooded Angels' for Peakviewing Transatlantic. 2001 sees the commencement of post-production on CF1’s latest feature, 'Alone', a fear movie starring Claire Goose, with music by Rick Wakeman.
