NPA AND SW MATCH UP FOR NEW PROJECT

The New Producers Alliance (NPA) and the Screenwriters Workshop (SW) have teamed up for networking nights on a project called Match.
The project aims to develop a closer understanding of how writers and producers work together and hopes to provide a structure for writers and producer teams to develop their projects to industry standard.
The scheme is for feature projects only and is open only to members of the NPA and Screenwriters Workshops. Initially there are two stages, with a possibility of a third stage being developed.
At stage one ten writers and producers will meet for four weekly sessions. Writers will pitch their ideas to producers and at the end of the second meeting each writer will be paired with a producer.
The writer and producer pair will work together for a further two sessions to prepare a pitch and three or four page treatment. They will be presented to a panel comprised of a member of the NPA, SW and the Director’s Guild. A team from the NPA and SW will supervise stage one.
At stage two the most promising projects will be selected for free script development in the form of an experienced script consultant who will help develop the project to industry standard through a set period. A director from the Director’s Guild may then be invited to join the writer and producer team if appropriate.
At stage three the best projects will receive advice on further development through meetings and pitches with established production companies.
To take part writers must submit a CV and writing sample of no more than ten pages, and they should have previously completed a screenplay, which they have copyrighted.
While the deadline for the first round of submissions is now past, further opportunities will be posted on the SW website at www.lsw.org.uk/events.htm when dates are fixed. (CMcL)
