Audio-Technica to introduces re-engineered broadcast and wireless microphones at IBC

Audio-Technica’s industry leading installation microphone series, UniPoint®, has been completely re-engineered, utilising breakthrough audio and mechanical design improvements, to set new standards for signal quality, reliability, and ease of installation.
Also re-engineered is Audio-Technica’s professional mid-budget 3000 Series Wireless systems, now incorporating the company’s Automatic Frequency Scanning functionality, as found on its flagship 4000 and 5000 Series systems.
The original full-line miniaturized, condenser range of installation sound microphones, UniPoint is used extensively in broadcast studio, in desktop, podium, suspension and boundary applications. Comprising over 30 gooseneck mounted, boundary and hanging models, UniPoint is designed for the widest range of applications, in sound reinforcement, broadcast and recording.
New features include UniGuard™ RFI-shielding innovations for unsurpassed immunity from radio frequency interference, new interchangeable condenser elements (cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional and UniLine™ line cardioid), superior off-axis rejection for improved gain before feedback, 80 Hz UniSteep® filter for removal of unwanted low frequencies without affecting vocal quality, and two-stage foam windscreen for dramatically improved resistance to P-pops and other breath blasts.
New podium microphones also offer an improved, easy-to-adjust gooseneck with virtually no ‘memory’, permitting quick positioning, and a robust design that resists inadvertent repositioning. Clear, high-output performance is assured by new interchangeable condenser elements available in four pickup patterns: cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional and the new UniLine line cardioid with its tight 90º pickup pattern.
The next-generation UniPoint boundary microphones are engineered for maximum flexibility; most models incorporate Audio-Technica’s new, unique PivotPoint™ rotating output connector that allows the cable to exit from either the rear or the bottom of the microphone. The U891R, U891RW and U891RC boundary mics feature programmable switching plus an LED status indicator for a high level of control flexibility in conference and boardroom applications.
The latest UniPoint hanging microphones are designed for suspension over choirs, instrumental groups and theater stages. The hanging microphones feature a low-profile design, available in black or white. New interchangeable capsules (cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional and UniLine) offer improved on-axis pickup. With robust construction and unobtrusive appearance, these hanging mics offer sophisticated and versatile sound reinforcement solutions.
The new 3000A Series 200 frequency agile, UHF wireless systems, represents a high performance, professionally spec’d, mid-budget solution, for broadcast rental and production applications. The inclusion of A-T’s Automatic Frequency Scanning technology greatly enhances operation, avoiding interference and intermodulation problems.
The new ATW-R3100 receiver benefits from a newly designed high-specification front-end filtering system, along with the latest Audio-Technica 1/2-wave antenna technology to maximise both simultaneous frequency use and range.
The 3000 Series comprises two system options: the ATW-3110A UHF UniPak™ Transmitter System, comprising the ATW-R3100 true diversity receiver and the ATW-T310 UniPak body-pack transmitter; and the ATW-3141A UHF Handheld Dynamic Microphone System, which also includes the ATW-R3100 receiver, plus the ATW-T341 handheld microphone/transmitter.
The full range of Audio-Technica sub-miniature condenser clip mics, studio and OB production microphones, and 4000 and 5000 Series networkable wireless systems will be on show, as well as the company’s extensive industry leading range of shotgun models.
