Inertia Productions back turkey 'shoot'

London based television company, Inertia Productions, are behind the latest live broadcast for bookmakers Blue Square - turkey racing.
Competing for the prestigious Gobble Cup, the turkeys will race on a 20-metre straight track emerging from real greyhound traps, with greyhound-style jackets numbered from 1-6.
Inertia will be covering the event with a four camera digital flyaway solution. The philosophy of this mini fly-pack system is the ability to move into a venue quickly, utilise as little space as possible and be able to deliver a high quality flexible four camera and three VTR production unit. The system is based around a Sony DFS 700 vision mixer, Pro Bel 16x16 router, Clear Comm Mini Matrix and a Midas Venice audio mixer.
The entire system fits into four 28U flight cases, two cable trunks and two 28U monitor galleries. Using Sony BVP-950 cameras and Sony DSR-PD 150’s Inertia will then ensure that the broadcast is encoded for live streaming onto the online bookmaker, Blue Square’s website. They will be using state of the art radio microphones including Sennheiser SKM-5000 handheld microphones and Sennheiser SK-50 lapel microphones.
Inertia, who have also previously produced live hamster racing and live alligator racing for Blue Square, will provide wide and close-up angles to ensure that punters know exactly what position their chosen steed is in.
Full commentary will be provided by ex-Greyhound guru Richard Thomas who will come out of retirement for this one off event. This event has whipped up a media frenzy and has already received coverage in numerous newspapers and on Channel Four’s breakfast show RI:SE and with further coverage expected on ITV and BBC 1, TV crews from various parts of the world are flying in especially for the event including crews from France and Russia.
However, the turkeys have been spared from ending up with roast potatoes, sprouts and all the trimmings this Christmas.
Veteran animal handler, Trevor Smith, the star of the Discovery Channel series ‘Wild Thing’ has been drafted in to care for the turkeys. After the event is finished, the turkeys will go off to a peaceful retirement from their racing days in an animal sanctuary.
