ORF chooses leader lv5750 SDI analyser

Austrian public service broadcaster ORF has ordered a Leader LV5750 multi-standard SDI analyser for its Funkhaus studios in Vienna's 4th District.
A 30 minute daily television news magazine with regional news is produced at the Funkhaus for transmission in and around Vienna, plus several radio channels.
ORF's decision to order the LV5750 follows the recent purchase of an LV5700 by the network's Mobile Production Department. Both units were supplied by elQuip BV via Leader's Austrian reseller Wien Schall GmbH which has offices in Vienna and Salzburg.
Martin Dechant of Wien Schall explains the background to ORF's decision to order the LV5750: "ORF were very impressed by the LV5700 and even more so by the LV5750 which packs practically all the same features into a quarter of the overall size.
"The LV5750 is being used to monitor SDI signal continuity and audio transmission quality. It was selected for its wide range of analytical functions together with its very high quality 6.5 inch TFT LCD colour screen and exceptional portability. The LV5750 can be powered from a 12V DC rechargable battery which further adds to its mobility."
Although ORF's current output is entirely 625i/50, the network's engineering management is well aware of growing European interest in HD broadcasting. Both the LV5700 and 5750 are future-proofed by their ability to handle a wide range of television signal formats, including 1080i and 720p.
The 221 x 133 x 103 mm (WHD) LV5750 is optimised for room-to-room use in studios as well as mobile implementation in OB-vans or flight cases. Key features include a 1028 x 768 XGA display, extensive SDI error detection, individual or four-in-one multiple display of waveform, vectorscope, picture, status and embedded audio.
A front-panel headphone feed allows embedded audio to be monitored quickly and easily before, during or after graphic and numeric analysis of the SDI signal components.
As a programme acquisition tool, the LV5750 enables camera crews and directors to maintain accurate colour balance in the field instead of losing time and money in extensive post-production colour-correction.
A tripod attachment allows the LV5750 to be mounted near a camera to double as a high quality viewfinder.
Using an optional Ethernet adaptor, the LV5750 can be interfaced to Leader's recently-announced FS3019 signal monitoring system. This enables the performance of remote HD-SDI and SD-SDI equipment to be checked via a standard internet connection.
