Marquis Broadcast appoints Vice President, Operations, North America

Marquis Broadcast, specialist in broadcast workflow studies and software solutions, has appointed Richard Gorbutt to the newly created position of Vice President of Operations for North America.
Gorbutt will initially focus on establishing a US head office in Virginia, and expanding US sales and marketing activities.
Gorbutt has 23 years experience of operations and engineering in the broadcasting industry, having started his career at the BBC. He joins Marquis after 14 years at Reuters where he worked his way up to Head of Global Operations for TV and Pictures having held various positions including Technical Facilities Manager in London and Director of Technical Services in Washington, DC. While at Reuters, Gorbutt was responsible for several large-scale projects to implement digital workflows into the newsroom, including the introduction of laptop newsgathering in the field, and the move to Internet-based delivery systems for foreign bureaus.
“Having been instrumental in transitioning many broadcasting operations to the digital arena, Richard has a thorough understanding of how to implement new working practices successfully,” said Granby Patrick, CEO, Marquis Broadcast. “He shares with us our fundamental principles and will play a major role in developing the Marquis brand in the US market.”
By creating this new role, Marquis expects to build rapidly on its customer base in the US and to strengthen its relationship with US broadcasters in order to be well positioned for the continuing migration to digital technology.
