BBC MEDIAARC CASHES IN ON SUCCESS IN NEW YORK

BBC MEDIAARC, the BBC’s newly created design and interactive arm, has received further industry accolades at recent New York Festivals.
Senior Designer Liz Friedman collected the gold world medal for her art direction of the idents and stings designed for HSBC TV banking channel.
Liz Friedman, said: “As the criteria in the DiTV category is quite broad, being short-listed alone is testament to the high quality design services we offer.”
They were delivered by Andy McNamara and the 3-D team and produced by Louise Braham. In addition to the award in the Best Computer Generated Images category, a finalist certificate was received in the category Best Direction in the film and video section for the live action scenarios.
This latest recognition of the work being done by BBC MediaArc for clients HSBC follows two other successes. Last month the team consisting of interactive designers Adela Pickles and Andrew Wood, along with 3-D and digital effects team Ian Simpson, Andy McNamara, Jamie Lancaster and Mike Gilbert received a high commendation in the IVCA Biz net awards.
Also last month the team, along with HSBC, won Best Marketing Campaign at The Chartered Institute of Banker’s Financial Innovation awards.
In addition to the gold, BBC MediaArc’s Matthew Losasso won a silver world medal as Designer/Director for ‘State of the Planet’ in the Direction/Promotion category. Designer Paul Mitchell, with Andy McNamara and the London 3-D team, won a bronze world medal for ‘Rage to Revenge’ in the Best Special Effects category
Finalist certificates were received by Designers Sandra Nicholson and Victor Martinez, and Producer Stephen Venning, for Euro 2000 in the Film and Video Graphics category, and Matthew Losasso, Designer/Director for ‘Summer’ on UK Drama in the Direction/Promotion Spot category. (CMcL)
