MYTVS ANNOUNCE SOUTH COAST RSL PLANS

THE FIRST day of the VideoForum conference in London saw the announcement of MyTVs' plans for the installation of a Restricted Service License (RSL) station covering Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth.
The announcement follows the recent government sell off of surplus analogue spectrum to create 63 RSLs, which will allow operators to put out a service in a strictly defined geographical area.
Panasonic Broadcast and broadcast integration specialists McMillan are working closely to produce the turnkey solution for the broadcaster. The new Restricted Service License is expected to be launched on April 2 2001.
Panasonic are to supply DVCPRO equipment, the installation to encompass all the kit needed from acquisition and editing through to station monitoring.
McMillan, who have been involved from the outset, have assessed the station’s equipment requirements and will carry out the installation and provide ongoing support for the supplied equipment.
MyTVs say the service offered will provide true local television for local people.
