U2 PROMO POSTED AT RED

RED, the Soho-based creative facility, used Henry and flame to post the video for U2's latest single 'Stuck in a moment you can't get out of'.
Directed by Kevin Godley of The Artists Company, the promo was shot in LA and began airing at the end of January.
The promo features Bono stuck in a moment he can't get out of, the moment being pushed out of the back of a van over and over again. As he tumbles to the floor, the camera pans round in a series of moves that add to the momentum of his fall. This footage is intercut with time-lapse shots of the other band members walking slowly across a busy highway with the cars speeding by in a blur of lights.
In order to get the most creative camera perspectives, Bono was filmed on a rig a couple of feet from the ground. Red's Henry Artist, Tim Rudgard, painted out the rigs, cameras and shadows from the final shots and added some clever post-production moves to enhance the originals. He also used Henry to carry out additional grading to lighten the shots.
Paul Dixon at Red used flame to clean up the footage and carry out the time-lapse shots, comping together three separate passes and several mattes to achieve a seamless finish. Enhancing of light effects originally created in Spirit and additional grading completed the post-production work Red undertook for the promo. (CD)
