Sony boast era of ‘HD for everyone’ has arrived

A theme of "HD for everyone" pervaded the Sony stand at the recent Broadcast Production Show.
Sony showcased a comprehensive line-up of products, technologies and services to support a migration path to High Definition. This included equipment from cameras and VTRs to SD/HD non-linear editors to flat panel displays.
Marketing Manager of Sony UK, Rob Newton, said: "We look forward to helping identify the most appropriate HD roadmap for businesses that will generate exciting new revenue opportunities at a cost that’s in tune with their needs. We will also be demonstrating real workflow innovation with our range of Professional Disc based technologies."
In conjunction with the technologies on offer Sony hosted a series of workshops running throughout the event and a free Apple/Sony Video Production Seminar. Both of which proved very popular with attendees at the show.
While hundreds of US television stations are already pushing ahead with HD, Europe is gearing up for the first wave of mainstream service launches.
Newton said: "With the world’s media industry migrating rapidly to High Definition Sony offers a complete range of HD solutions to suit all budgets and production needs – from the peerless quality of HDCAM SR to the convenience and affordability of HDV."
Among the Sony HD products in the wings are the compact professional HDV camcorder the HVR-A1E, which offers full 1080 line resolution and expected to ship in the autumn.
