ITC REVISE GUIDANCE ON STROBING IMAGES

THE Independent Television Commission (ITC) have published a revised version of their Guidance Note on Flashing Images and Regular Patterns in Television for consultation.
The Guidance Note has been reviewed in close collaboration with representatives from ITC licensees and medical experts to clarify the existing guidance and, wherever possible, quantify the technical parameters intended to reduce the risk of television picture sequences provoking adverse reactions in viewers with photosensitive epilepsy.
The intention of the revised Guidance Note is to define the provocative visual stimuli and to set out objective measures to facilitate compliance of visual material both pre- and post-production. The technical parameters set out in the Guidance Note have been revised in line with medical evidence. An appendix of technical information has also been included to assist both technical and non-technical personnel responsible for compliance.
The proposed new Guidance Note can be accessed on the ITC website at www.itc.org.uk or by contacting the ITC information office. (CD)
