THE PRODUCTION SHOW GOES 'ALL EARS' FOR AUDIO

THE organisers of the Production Show 2001 have announced the introduction of a new dedicated Audio strand in this year’s conference programme line-up.
In the visitor survey at The Production Show 2000, one in four of the attendees stated that they made or specified audio purchasing decisions, which encouraged organisers to incorporate this aspect of the production world into the show.
Among the seminars scheduled for the show are: ‘Music meets Post - where is the technology taking us?’ which aims to enable music-recording engineers and post production mixers to discuss how they can achieve the best results for television and film music. ‘Beating the Imposters’ is a basic how to session for those at the start of a career in the business, while ‘Budgeting for Sound in 2001’ subtitled ‘It cost me £10k in 1992, so why is it going to cost me £30k now?’ will address the questions often raised by directors and producers, and enable the audio engineers to explain their side of the equation.
The Institute of Broadcast Sound (IBS) and the Association of Post Production Sound (APPS) are also to present seminars jointly, along with representatives from the audio industry such as AMS Neve and Tyrell.
