Radio TV West supports ingest, media management, playout with Omneon Spectrum

Radio TV West, a regional radio and television broadcaster serving southwestern Holland, has purchased an Omneon Spectrum server system for ingest, media management, transcoding, and round-the-clock playout of programming.
The four-channel Omneon server system also supports postproduction for Radio TV West's local news and feature stories.
"We chose to install an Omneon video server along with our Building4Media automation solution because it integrates easily with other broadcast systems and has a good performance record in similar storage and playout applications," said Joris van Dam, Head Technician of TV operations for Radio TV West. "The Omneon Spectrum offers good value and the reliability we need for continuous on-air operations, and it provides versatile format support that allows us to take full advantage of the proven QuickTime standard."
Installed in Radio TV West's Den Haag facility, the Omneon server is controlled by FORK content delivery software supplied by Building4Media. With the high degree of scalability and data-type independence offered by the Omneon Spectrum, Radio TV West can use Building4Media software with collaborative editing tools to create and deliver entertainment-grade content for broadcast transmission or streaming via the Internet.
