Vela to introduce premium quality HD decoder at NAB 2005

Celebrating over ten years of decoder and encoder product innovation and leadership, Emmy award-winner Vela is to introduce the broadcast quality CineView HD Pro decoder at NAB 2005.
This innovative new decoder, the CineView HD Pro, includes a host of sophisticated features that ease broadcasters’ migration to high-definition. Users can now simulcast SD and HD format video via SDI, therefore concurrently satisfying requirements for both SD and HD programming with one decoder. Users can also up-convert standard-definition materials to high-definition format, eliminating both the time and expense of re-encoding SD assets. Existing high-definition content can also be down-converted to the standard definition format, providing even greater flexibility for operators during this time of format transition. Further complementing the rich SD/HD playback functionality of the CineView HD Pro is the capability to frame-accurately combine SD and HD file output by simply switching the asset format through an A/B switch at any time.
“The CineView HD Pro is truly a revolutionary product. For the first time, broadcasters really have the option of dynamically satisfying both HD and SD playout requirements with one decoder board,” said Vela Vice President Rick Chile. “This decoder saves operators time and money by allowing them to easily simulcast, combine or transfer between SD and HD files, all from one product.”
The full-featured CineView HD Pro decoder also includes all the elements required by demanding users, including genlock, SDI output, frame buffering, support for frame accurate trick modes, LTC input/output, enhanced graphics and on-screen-display (OSD) support, 16 channels of audio per board and many more features. This powerful HD/SD decoder has playback of 4:2:0 HD and 4:2:2/4:2:0 SD MPEG profiles with PAL and NTSC support standard. Optional features available are DV-25 support, DVB/ASI input and VDCP machine control.
Also included with the CineView HD Pro is Vela’s easy-to-use PlayAdvantage software GUI, a comprehensive set of video management tools enabling effortless decoding. For operators preferring to build their own custom application, a powerful Software Developer’s Kit (SDK) is available with sample MPEG clips, thorough API documentation and a modifiable sample player application.
