Sierra Video Systems announce NLE multi-format routing switcher

Sierra Video Systems has announced the new Sierra NLE multi-format routing switcher designed specifically for non-linear editing facilities that employ multiple formats, routing both digital and analogue audio and video signals.
The Sierra NLE multi-format routing switcher is an 8x8 matrix switcher in a compact 3RU frame that is capable of routing SDI video, composite, Y/C, YUV and/or RGsB signals along with either balanced analogue stereo audio (or two balanced analogue mono audio) and/or AES/EBU digital audio. The concept behind the Sierra NLE routing switcher is that the unit is both multi-format and multi-level capable. The switcher can be purchased with up to 3 levels of video (composite video which takes up one level, YC which takes up two levels, YUV or RGsB video, which take up three levels), 1 level of SDI video, 1 level of digital stereo audio and 2 levels of balanced analogue audio (1 stereo audio or 2 mono audio channels) installed for a total of 7 possible levels. In the Sierra NLE routing switcher, each level of an input can be switched independently or in conjunction with any combination of the other levels on that input to the corresponding level of any combination of the outputs.
That is multi-format, multi-level switching. The Sierra NLE switcher can be purchased with an RS-422 machine control option in the form of an external 1RU box. Delivery is targeted for May 2005.
