NEW TALENT GAIN INTERACTIVE MEDIA NVQ

Wales’ leading film, television and new media industry training provider, Cyfle, had their commitment to the development of talented young people recognised with the presentation of certificates to the first six candidates to gain the Skillset Interactive Media NVQ.
Presenting the certificates to the six, who are the first candidates in the UK to gain this new NVQ level 3, Jane Davidson AM, the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning for Wales, said: "I heartily congratulate all of the candidates on achieving yet another first for Wales in the field of Lifelong Learning. We need to work hard to develop our skills base in Wales, particularly at NVQ Level 3, and in dynamic new industries such as interactive media. I congratulate Cyfle for showing such initiative in driving this forward.”
The very first candidate to achieve this new level 3 professional qualification is Sophie Carpenter, a Cyfle trainee on their new entrant training scheme in 2000. She is currently with BBC Wales’ News On-Line.
Cyfle, which is the only Skillset NVQ Assessment Centre in Wales, became the first Centre to be accredited to approve the new Skillset NVQ in Interactive Media last summer. This latest development will further strengthen the position of the company as the major provider of vocational training in Wales.
The Skillset NVQ in Interactive Media is a flexible, work related qualification, which relates directly to the work situation of the individual candidate, be it creative, technical or production. Candidates can tailor the qualification to meet their particular needs and choose the most appropriate route through the qualification.
