root6 to sell TerraBlock networking
root6 has signed with Massachusetts-based Facilis Technology to sell the manufacturer’s TerraBlock range of Storage Area Networking in the UK.
TerraBlock capacities range from 3TB to more than 7TB and, unlike other network storage solutions, utilise new Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) mirrored disk drives to provide a more cost effective networking solution.
“TerraBlock was one of the star turns at NAB last year,” said John Harris of root6. “It offers a faster and more reliable solution for both compressed and dual stream uncompressed editing through to offline environments. And, using SATA technology, it outperforms systems costing considerably more.”
A 6TB TerraBlock system for example, ideal for six NLEs in a dual stream 1:1 uncompressed editing environment, is priced at £26,500.
root6 also announced the first sales of TerraBlock to Brook Lapping and Princess Productions.
