VINTEN DEMONSTRATIONS AT NAB 2001

BURY St. Edmonds company Vinten, have announced the next phase of their partnership with InterSense, market leaders in precision motion tracking technology that allows people to easily interact with 3D computer-generated environments.
The team of Vinten and InterSense, brought together last year to offer the ImageTracker IS-900 precision camera tracking solution for virtual production, demonstrated full product offerings with several virtual set providers at NAB 2001.
Dean Wormell, InterSense Manager of Strategic Partnerships, said: “We provide a full tracking solution for virtual set production. Our IS-900 Image Tracker offers free roaming camera tracking, talent and object tracking all combined into one system.”
Vinten’s Director of Business Development, Nick Kent, added: “Combined with the Vinten Image Tracker product family, the IS-900 Image Tracker adds depth to our virtual ready product offerings. The full Image Tracker family, in combination with virtual set software from vi[z]rt, Brainstorm and Hybrid-MC, gives our clients a production ready solution through a global support network.
Broadcast and Cable Television production studios will now be able to seamlessly integrate their live shots with 3D computer generated graphics in real time, saving costs in set construction and design and programming.
Camera tracking is an integral component to the success of a virtual set because it determines the position, orientation and lens settings of a camera so the graphical background perspective matches the live camera shot. The ImageTracker IS-900 is engineered to ‘know’ the camera's position in relation to the virtual set, resulting in the merger of the real and virtual worlds into a seamless scene. The ImageTracker IS-900 helps television stations, film studios and webcasters save time and money by allowing talent to interact with computer generated backgrounds or virtual sets as an alternative to shooting on location or building cumbersome sets. Once created, these elements become a toolbox of items that can be called up and used or changed by directors in future virtual productions. The partnership between InterSense and Vinten advances virtual production by delivering precise and accurate wide-area, interference-free, camera, object and talent tracking for the most demanding applications. The easily integrated system offers hardware, software, complete software support by Vinten’s partners and total compatibility with the entire InterSense product line. (GB)
