BARRAKA COLLABORATE WITH PANTECHNICON

THE PRODUCT of Baraka Post Production's latest collaboration with Pantechnicon is a stunning eight-screen, 360 degree panoramic presentation made for the Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, Surrey.
The 17-minute video takes the viewer through a year in the life of the wine estate, combining footage of the estate and surrounding area, with interviews and narration. The presentation will be displayed at Denbies on eight screens arranged octagonally in a 12 square metre room. Viewers will stand in the centre and literally be encompassed by the video.
In order to capture the 360 degree panoramic shots, John Landon, the Director, designed a special rig onto which eight mini DV cameras were mounted in a circle. The device was suspended from a helicopter in order to shoot aerial views.
Miles Cumpstey of Pantechnicon cut the elaborate piece together. It was then over to Chris Gilbert of Baraka to online the video in Jaleo. Despite being shot simultaneously some of the footage produced did not match, so Gilbert's
main task was to uniformly grade the clips. Some re-racking and zooming was also necessary. Jaleo was a very useful tool in contributing to the effects required for the project.
The audio post-production was done at Aquarium.
Cut on Beta SP, ultimately the finished product was converted into MPEG format which was ready for display from mid May 2001. (CD)
