Evolutions posts new hospital-based comedy Channel 4

Evolutions, one of the UK’s leading broadcast post companies, has worked with Talkback Productions on a new series named ‘Green Wing’.
The hospital-based comedy consists of nine 50-minute episodes and airs on Channel 4 from Friday September 3.
From the multi award-winning team that produced ‘Smack The Pony’, Green Wing is a surreal and entertaining series that’s part soap, part comedy drama. Despite being largely set in a hospital and featuring medical professionals, there is a bizarre lack of medical content, with the show focusing instead on human interactions, behavioural quirks and social observations.
All human life is here and is seen predominantly through the eyes of new surgical registrar Dr Caroline Todd. As she negotiates her way through a fairly traumatic first day, she encounters a cast of characters, whom she will proceed to love, hate, bemuse and infuriate over the series.
Director/Producer Victoria Pile came to Evolutions after many months in offline. She said the decision to work with Evolutions was “largely down to the creative abilities of Evolutions’ Senior Editor Nick King”. Pile had previously collaborated with King on two series of Smack The Pony, while he was at TSI.
King used Avid Symphony for the conform and the online, and Discreet’s flame to create all the visual effects. He said: “A lot of speed effects had been used in the offline to accelerate or slow down the pace of the programme. The biggest challenge when we got to online was making sure they all worked properly together and helped to contribute to the overall flow of the programme.”
Pile said: “The programme has been a long time in the making but all the hard work has been worth it. We’re absolutely delighted with the final product, and have high hopes for the show.”
