Anton/Bauer place Dionic 160 on general release

After a year of limited production for major broadcasters exclusively, Anton/Bauer is offering the high performance Dionic 160 battery to the general market.
Anton/Bauer claim the Dionic 160 is not only the highest capacity on-camera battery in the broadcast industry but it can also handle the high power applications previously left to NiCd or NiMH products.
“The Dionic 160 is capable of continuous loads of up to 140 watts, almost three times that of most lithium ion batteries available”, said Shin Minowa, Vice President of Market Development for Anton/Bauer. Thirty per cent lighter than our high performance nickel based chemistries, it can run a typical ENG camera over six hours and handle virtually any on-camera lighting loads as well.”
The Dionic 160 employs a unique lithium ion cell designed for high power military applications. Each cell is three times the capacity of the cells typically used in a lithium ion video battery. With fewer cells in the battery (fewer interconnects and resistance losses) Dionic 160 has unparalleled low internal impedance to effectively handle high current demands. Dionic 160’s are factory tested at loads of over 10 amps and handle cold-start peak loads of halogen lights of 75 watts or more. All this results in performance well out of the range of undersized lithium ion batteries constructed with cells designed for computers or pda’s.
Anton/Bauer’s unique RealTime display is a standard feature on the Dionic 160 - the InterActive Digital battery fuel gauge – the first accurate battery capacity display in the industry - and incorporates a unique remaining time indication on each battery. Now both full-to-empty and the answer to the question “How long will my battery run?’ are answered with just a glance at the RealTime display on every battery. No buttons to push, LED’s to interpret or special setups. RealTime monitors the load of any device and automatically calculates capacity and remaining time under the existing operating conditions. Battery change decisions can be made easily and accurately.
The Dionic 160, compatible with the existing InterActive charging technology of Anton/Bauer PowerChargers and Titan series chargers already in the field, can be added to any inventory of Anton/Bauer batteries transparently.
