St. Anne’s posts ‘My Life as a Popat’ for CiTV

St. Anne’s has recently completed the full post package on new children’s series, ‘My Life as a Popat’ for Feelgood Fiction.
This has included off-line and on-line edit; grade; sound and VFX. ‘My Life as a Popat’ is produced by Laurence Bowen and directed by Beryl Richards, and is due for transmission on CiTV on September 7.
‘My Life as a Popat’ is a groundbreaking six-part children's comedy drama, about a young Asian boy growing up in Harrow. Anand is a dreamer with a secret identity for every day of the week. When the hassle of home just gets too much to stand, he visits a much simpler world inside his head, where fantasies of being a gangster, action hero, or Indian prince provide a welcome escape from reality. But with a family like the Popats, real life is much weirder than fiction.
“The grade on this project had two key characteristics,” said Kevin Horsewood, Senior Colourist at St. Anne’s. “Firstly, when Feelgood Fiction came to us with the project, the director was keen that the grade wasn’t too bright and colourful, which gave it more of a light entertainment feel than is usual for children’s television. Also, we graded the fantasy sequences running throughout the series, creating vignettes together with high contrast colour to make these sections stand out from the rest of the programme.”
