ITV UNIONS STRENGTHEN ALLIANCE
UNIONS representing ITV members are to form a new group to meet the challenges of the future.
The new ITV grouping brings together the NUJ, AEEU and BECTU and will be a cross-company organisation building on the co-operation already established in Granada, the dominant company in the ITV sector.
The new group means that any collective bargaining, consultation or representation across all ITV and associated companies will be carried out on a joint-union basis.
BECTU’s Independent Broadcasting Official, Sharon Elliot, said: "Broadcasting trade unions are gearing up to deal with the big structural changes in independent television. We are keen to broaden our efforts to encompass the whole of the ITV network". (CD)
