Barix Updates AudioPoint Architecture

News Image
More than a decade after its first version appeared at ISE, Barix has refreshed its AudioPoint audio-to-mobile streaming platform for the HOW vertical.

AudioPoint's proven WiFi-based architecture offers a far simpler foundation than a hearing loop infrastructure, requiring one wired and wireless connection to transmit low-latency, point-to-point multichannel audio streams to each parishioner connected to the network. It is also far more cost-effective that a hearing loop system, saving churches tens of thousands of dollars.

Barix will demonstrate AudioPoint's HOW configuration at ISE 2025 (Stand 5F700), which introduces a more bandwidth-efficient architecture that sends a private connection to each parishioner. AudioPoint offers a proven, efficient and affordable assisted listening solution to deliver clear audio and automatic channel recognition inside worship facilities. Its real-time streams of the spoken word reach the user with pristine quality, leveraging built-in audio processing technology to eliminate the natural echo produced through live voice in most worship environments.

AudioPoint's encoding hardware provides two distinct mono channels for unicast streaming audio to mobile phones, supporting up to 250 direct simultaneous streams. The compact AudioPoint encoder requires one wired connection to a mixer or computer and one wireless connection to the Wi-Fi network. A free Barix AudioPoint app on their iOS or Android devices to stream live audio to their mobile phones, and audiences can scan the QR code inside the facility to connect to and select from available channels.

For worship events involving video, AudioPoint's low-latency technology streams audio to the consumer’s personal device in real-time, ensuring synchronization with the visual presentation. Parishioners can select between audio channels in the app if other languages are available.

AudioPoint’s capacity is itself a gamechanger for the modest technology budgets that most worship facilities face. The $500 investment is a far more affordable option than hearing loop systems that can cost up to $35,000, and require a cabling infrastructure to support the magnetic field that pulls the signal into the hearing loop's telecoil.

"AudioPoint offers what most professional assisted listening systems do but at a much lower price," said Reto Brader, CEO, Barix. "Installation is remarkably simple. For those that choose to work with AV integrators, a professional installation takes virtually no time at all. The same applies for an in-house technology director with AV/IT experience. Often, the worship leader personally installs the system in one hour or less without issue, requiring only one wired and one wireless connection."
