S4C UNVEIL NEW PRESENTERS FOR RUGBY COVERAGE

S4C HAVE unveiled their two main presenters for this year’s television rugby coverage.
The channel announced that two of Wales’ most experienced presenters Rhodri Williams and Gareth Roberts will front S4C’s new-look rugby coverage on Saturdays and Sundays.
Williams whose presentation CV includes working for Sky Sport, ‘Animal Hospital’, ‘Awaydays’, ‘Pacio’, ‘The Front Row’ and ‘Live TV’ will anchor Y Clwb Rygbi, the live Saturday evening match.
Roberts will front Y Clwb, the Sunday afternoon rugby and sport highlights programme. Originally from Benllech, Anglesey, is one of S4C’s most experienced presenters. He’s a former commentator, reporter and presenter with S4C’s European football magazine, ‘Sgorio’. He’s also presenter of the popular S4C gameshow series, ‘Cerdyn Post’.
Williams said: "I’m really looking forward to the challenge. It’s a new period in Welsh club rugby and I’m sure that the new league will capture the public imagination. The race for the Celtic League title is totally wide open with some outstanding sides from the Irish Provinces there to challenge the best of the Welsh and Scottish clubs."
Roberts said: "I’m passionate about all sport, particularly Welsh sport, and so this presentation challenge is right up my street. As a former presenter and commentator on Sgorio, I’ve been more associated with football. But I’m a former co-presenter of the BBC produced programme Tocyn Tymor and will be renewing an old partnership with the sports production team there. Having lived in Cardiff for over 15 years, I’ve become a keen follower of the game and I’m proud of Anglesey’s long association with the game."
BBC Cymru Wales is responsible for Y Clwb Rygbi and Y Clwb coverage for S4C and they are planning new features for the programmes using the latest graphics and replay technology. (CD)
