SGL announces partnership with CIS Technology

Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of video storage management software, has announced the further expansion of its partnership initiative in Asia via the formation of an alliance with CIS Technology, based in Korea.
CIS Technology, which has been operating in the broadcast and media automation market for over ten years, has provided numerous automated broadcasting system solutions to a wide range of customers. This partnership will see extensive technical and sales co-operation between SGL and CIS across the broadcasting archiving market including playout, ingest and broadcast content management archiving projects. SGL will provide technical (both development and operational), marketing and system design support.
CIS already has a very strong presence in both the automation and archiving markets in Korea and anticipates a significant strengthening of its position in Korea and also for its overseas market entrance via this alliance with SGL.
“The partnership with CIS Technology further strengthens our commitment to the Asia-Pacific Region,” explained Bernie Walsh, Sales & Marketing Director, SGL. “With our other partners in Asia and the fact that we will have SGL staff based in Hong Kong shortly, we are looking forward to making a serious impact on this market.”
By integrating SGL FlashNet with CIS Technology’s product range, a process that is familiar to both parties via extensive work with third parties, a comprehensive digital storage management solution will be created. This can be designed to provide a totally digitalised workflow from ingestion to archiving and video content can be archived to a variety of library devices from small size DVD-RAM to large scale tape (SGL supports storage devices and libraries from all the major manufacturers).
SGL FlashNet is data management software that provides the link between video stored as files on video servers, NLE’s and shared storage systems, and the data library that serves as the long-term repository. It allows the user to move material from the server to the archive either manually or under the control of a video application, tracking all of the video assets by a user or application assigned file name for easy management and retrieval.
The Partial File Restore (PFR) of MPEG-2 Transport Stream (TS) files was announced at NAB as additional support to its existing feature for partial restore of GXF format video clips.
PFR for the new MXF format will be available later this year.
