First4media appoints new Managing Director

First4media, Europe’s largest supplier of professional recordable media to the broadcast, postproduction and music industry, has announced the appointment of Nigel Morris as Managing Director, with effect from July 2004.
Currently Marketing Director at Orion Media Marketing, the UK’s leading Computer Consumables distributor, Morris brings with him over fifteen years experience in the IT products industry. Prior to working at Orion, he was the Managing Director of a start up company and prior to that Worldwide Marketing Manager at Inmac, a mail order IT products catalogue company.
Commenting on Nigel Morris’ appointment, first4media chairman John Rooke said: “Although we are well positioned as market leaders within the professional media industry sectors, we recognise the need to expand into new markets such IT if we are to ensure first4media’s long term success. Having Nigel on board will enable us to do this because he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the market to the company.”
Morris added: “I have spent eight and a half very happy years at Orion but the opportunity at first4media was simply too good to resist. The Rooke family have established the company’s reputation in the professional media industry, a reputation based on long standing customer relationships, a highly efficient logistics infrastructure, one of the best electronic customer ordering systems I’ve ever come across and long standing business partnerships with leading manufacturers.
“First4media is already a very successful business and the plans for the future aim to build on that success. My role at the company will be to help the Directors build on the company’s reputation and utilise my experience to expand into new products and new markets.”
