Nevion Adds New Features For VideoIPath

News Image
Nevion has announced several new features for VideoIPath as part of the continuous development of its leading media orchestration platform.

These new additions are designed to make it even easier for users to be in control of their production resources.

Widely deployed by broadcasters and telecom service providers in both LAN and WAN (local and wide area network) applications throughout the world, Nevion VideoIPath makes it easy to route video, audio and data across both SDI and IP networks –connecting locations, equipment, and functionality.

The latest release of the software includes a new concept: virtual junction. This introduces the notion of virtual equipment, which allows complete production workflows and user interfaces to be set up without needing to specify the actual pieces of physical equipment (for example, a camera or monitor) that will be used within the production. This means that the same connectivity set-up can be used for multiple deployments involving different pieces of equipment, such as for several stadiums with different cameras. This dramatically simplifies and speeds up the process of designing and deploying network connectivity in production environments.

VideoIPath also now includes several new or enhanced web applications, known as apps, designed for specific orchestration tasks.

The new Operate app enables the creation of bespoke user interfaces to control connections, without the need for any programming. This means that customers can easily and cost-effectively create intuitive user interfaces that are optimized for their specific operational production needs.

Two other apps introduced in the latest release are designed to greatly automate and simplify network administration tasks. The updated Inspect app allows users to easily examine connections in the network, and to determine, for example, exactly what signals are being transported on a particular connection, or whether a link is nearing capacity in terms of bandwidth usage. The new Maintenance app is designed to make it easier to plan and carry out maintenance on the network, by easily reconfiguring connections to ensure they avoid any areas set to be undergoing work.

Arne-Johan Martinsen, VideoIPath Product Manager at Nevion said: "VideoIPath is an important piece of Sony’s Networked Live ecosystem, and the latest new features are part of our drive to help our customers transform the logistics and the economics of production. These features are all designed to make it fast and easy to plan, set-up and control media connectivity."

Nevion’s VideoIPath will be on show at the NABShow (Las Vegas, 16-19 April, 2023), in the Networked Live area of Sony’s booth C8101.
