Ateme has announced that leading international communications company Ooredoo has gone live with an IPTV/OTT converged headend powered by Ateme's TITAN encoders.

Ooredoo delivers mobile, fixed, broadband Internet and corporate managed services tailored to the needs of 130 million customers across markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. Headquartered in Doha, Ooredoo also has a presence in other markets, including Kuwait, Oman, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, Palestine, the Maldives, and Indonesia.

Ooredoo TV, which is Ooredoo Qatar's TV service, offers live TV, on-demand content libraries and apps, delivered via the company's fiber network and in-home Wi-Fi to multiple screens.

The new converged headend, powered by Ateme's high video quality, high-density software encoders, offers Ooredoo an all-in-one solution for its current IPTV infrastructure and its plans to migrate services to pure OTT for its lineup of 450 linear channels and 1000+ hours of offline content. The project was completed in 12 weeks with zero down time.

With a focus on innovation and standardization, Ateme ensures its solutions enable customers such as Ooredoo to achieve high video quality at low latency, while its innovative business model provides a flexible expansion to meet increased demand in the future. Ateme’s R&D support also enables a futuristic roadmap and an alignment of features to meet its customers’ future needs.

"We wanted a solution that would meet today's streaming requirements, while also being ready for the future," said Saoud Al-Shammeri, Assistant Director TV & Multimedia at Ooredoo Qatar.

"Ateme's converged headend, with its high-density TITAN encoders, fit our vision perfectly. It enabled us to optimize our datacenter costs by having a dense solution without any compromise on quality, while also providing an agile and flexible solution to reach more customers on the devices of their choice today and tomorrow."

"This project ensures that Ooredoo customers continue to be served with pristine video quality at lowest latency. We are proud to have accompanied Ooredoo in this transformation and enabled their viewers to stream their preferred content to any device," said Rajesh Jagadish, Sales Director - MEA at Ateme.
