VITEC To Showcase New Products At NAB 2022
At NAB Show 2022 VITEC will be showcasing new products, as well as recent developments that have taken place at the company.
Under the spotlight will be the company's newest, best-in-class IP video products and services, as well as an increased focus on how these solutions can help enterprises move towards carbon neutrality.
VITEC's IPTV and digital signage product portfolio was strengthened in 2021 with the acquisition of Exterity. This deal has opened a new chapter for VITEC and puts the company in a strong position to capitalise on the growth of businesses deploying IP video streaming solutions across their enterprise networks. "I'm looking forward to NAB this year as it's a great place for media, entertainment and technology professionals to get together," said Mark D'Addio, SVP of Sales. "It's exciting to talk with the industry again about some of the significant things that have been happening at VITEC since the last NAB, including company developments and new products brought to market."
The first major product release that showcases the integrated VITEC and Exterity R&D teams is the new PRISM Transcoder. VITEC PRISM is a high-performance, real-time IP video transcoding system that enables content to be adapted to an optimal format for efficient delivery to any device within your ecosystem. The high-efficiency transcoding engine harnesses a wide range of advanced video codecs and streaming protocols for exceptional broadcast-quality output, all integrated into a 1-RU physical server that can be deployed in IT rooms, data centres or portable server racks. A wide range of pre-processing tools — including adaptive de-interlacing, video resizing, frame rate down-conversion and bit rate reduction — enables efficient delivery over LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, CDN or the Internet to any fixed end-point or mobile device.
With more and more video feeds being streamed live over various IP transmission links, organisations must find solutions that can efficiently and reliably manage this potentially complex situation. Visitors to the VITEC stand will see ChannelLink in action, which enables delivery of IP content anywhere, at any time. ChannelLink acts as a central hub where IP channels from the field can be reliably received and retransmitted live, acting as an extremely efficient gateway across any IP network. It is especially well suited for stream management, routing, rebroadcasting or IPTV stream reflection over WAN/Internet. For broadcasters, ChannelLink simplifies content delivery of live channels from news agencies as well as sports or entertainment venues. Designed to meet stringent security criteria, it is also suited for secure government and military full motion video (FMV) applications.
As the planet wrestles with global climate change, enterprises worldwide have begun incorporating green solutions into their business models. Video streaming represented more than 80% of internet traffic in 2020, with the internet currently accounting for more than 2% of global warming, and still growing.
In response to this situation, VITEC has recently launched its GreenPEG™ initiative to invest in carbon reduction projects and retroactively offset all emissions. Phillipe Wetzel, CEO of VITEC explained: "The immediate challenge is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by racing toward carbon neutrality, but it will not be easy. The video streaming sector will have to design products that use fewer raw materials, are easier to transport, consume less energy, and are easily recyclable. Adopting carbon-neutral energy strategies throughout the enterprise video supply chain will be necessary."
