Argosy Celebrates A Decade In The Middle East Market

News Image
Argosy, a leading supplier of infrastructure products and services to the broadcast and communications sectors, this year celebrates 10 years of success and year on year growth in the Middle East.

Establishing an early presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Argosy was the first dedicated broadcast installation materials supplier to set up business operations in the region and it continues to lead the market with the largest stock profile. Over the course of the decade, Argosy has delivered value add consultancy services and best of breed solutions to system integrators and end users across the Middle East, creating long-lasting relationships with broadcasters such as MBC and OSN.

Renowned for its short lead times, Argosy helps to ensure project completion dates are met, in line with broadcaster's technical and commercial goals. Argosy remains committed to serving its Middle East customers by constantly evaluating and stocking relevant and critical products to reduce lead times and ease the process of building new systems for production, content management, and delivery. With several major suppliers including Draka, Belden, Neutrik, and BES in its portfolio, Argosy has established itself as a one-stop shop. Its local stock facility means that it can ease the workload and pressure off its customers project management and procurement teams.

"We were the first infrastructure specialist to have stock on hand locally and have continuously adapted to the changing industry demands by expanding our portfolio beyond cables and connectors to racks, image ranges, switches, servers, KVM solutions," said Raziullah Baig, Regional Sales Manager of Argosy Middle East. "We have been very flexible with our product range and we put in the extra mile to make sure we either manufacture or source the best products at competitive prices to support every unique demand of a project."

As the region moves towards upgrading their workflows in line with 4K specifications, along with the increase of sporting events coverage across the Middle East, the need to produce local content has grown.

"With the media world changing so rapidly, demanding more outputs and higher resolutions, we know our customers need to be able to rely on suppliers to ensure they have the right infrastructure hardware, now and for the future," added Baig. "The likes of Netflix and Facebook have also driven a massive boost both to the amount of content to be created, and its quality, with 4K and HDR Ultra HD now commonplace."

The industry has gone through a series of changes to broadcasting infrastructure with the journey to high-definition (HD) 1080i occurring when the company first opened a base in the UAE. Argosy has recently been serving its customers as they moved to 3G 1080P and the company continues to deliver more efficient services and simpler workflows to its expanding customer base which is also making the transition from traditional architectures to IP connectivity. Stocking Pre terminated SMPTE Cables and Lemo connectors and convertors have made a big impact with Argosy’s Middle East customers.

"Our range covers HD, 4K, UHD, and cloud-based broadcast production which provides signal integrity from the rack to the network," said Chris Smeeton, Managing Director of Argosy. "We've enabled our customers to make smooth transitions through HD, 4K and UHD — and we are elated at the response we’ve had from our customers as well as the growth we’ve seen in this exciting market."

Last year, Argosy expanded its Dubai office to the city’s Oudmetha area in order to hold more stock and deliver faster and more efficient services to its Middle East customers.

Argosy also has its own assembly team and a fibre facility providing in house termination for various cables including copper, fibre and SMPTE “which also keeps us very competitive and puts us in a position to carry out every task with precession,” explains Baig.

Argosy's product portfolio has grown to include racking and mains distribution units, video, audio and data cabling, connectors and patching, SMPTE and fibre assembly equipment as well as KVM, and network switches. While, its regional partnerships have amassed with the business growing stronger year-on-year.

"We pride ourselves on making sure we manufacture or source the best possible solutions with the best price tags to support every unique demand of the project our customers need, specialising in every aspect of media infrastructure," added Baig. "We are very accessible and have a great service-level track record – true to our word in terms of deadlines and pricing."
