A.F. Associates appoints Senior Vice President, Sales

A.F. Associates President Tom Canavan has announced that Chris Summey has joined the AFA executive team as Senior Vice President, Sales.
This position was recently created to support extensive growth at AFA, which now has substantial operations located on both coasts following the acquisition of Sony Electronics’ Systems Integration Center.
Summey will be responsible for overseeing sales on a global basis, and will report to Matt Armstrong, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, Ascent Media Network Services (AMNS).

His background in engineering as well as sales and operations will be a critical asset to our customers for the creation of innovative and value-conscious technology solutions,” said Canavan. Summey has a distinguished and extensive background in the integration business, having held senior management positions with Sony’s Systems Integration Center and software development group, overseeing sales as well as operations, until leaving Sony in 2000. A decade earlier, Summey grew the fixed and mobile systems integration group at Midwest Communication Corporation from a start-up operation into an internationally known organization, which was later sold to Harris Corporation and incorporated into Harris' broadcast and communications solutions group.
Most recently, Summey served as VP of Worldwide Sales at Teranex Corp., a producer of high performance digital media solutions for broadcast and post-production applications. Summey supervised Teranex sales forces in the U.S., Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Prior to Teranex, Summey worked for Terayon Communications as VP Marketing and Business Development, in charge of strategic planning for a variety of digital video products, including the Voice over IP product line. His 30-plus year career began with several broadcast groups, in positions that included Chief Engineer and Group Director of Engineering.
