TV2 Norway selects IDX Endura

TV2 Norway has chosen battery systems from the IDX Technology Endura range to power its ENG cameras at the station's headquarters at Bergen.
This is their first IDX equipment and marks a significant step in the station's plans. Besides 20 E-80 82Wh V-mount Lithium-ion batteries, the order includes two VL-4 sequential chargers, two VL-4S four-channel simultaneous chargers and five of the new rugged lightweight VL-2Plus two-channel sequential chargers/AC power supplies.
TV2's purchase is based around two needs: V-mounts and lithium-ion chemistry. Einar Kaslegard, Assistant Productions Manager of TV2 Bergen, explained. "We believe it is crucial to have a system that is widely used around Europe. In case of problems on a foreign trip it's then quite easy to get help from other broadcasters. Also we are certain that Lithium-ion is the best technology to give us the best power and weight at the same time." The order includes V-mount plates so all Bergen ENG cameras now have a common V-mount system. Although not in the initial requirement, the fact that the E-80 batteries include PowerLink for docking is seen as an added bonus.
This can extend planned continuous run times by doubling the battery capacity or allow a second battery to clip on to backup a heavily discharged battery without a break in operation.
