VFG ACCELERATE NEW FILTERS LAUNCH

A REVOLUTIONARY range of filters has been launched on the back of a management buyout of the Manufacturing and Sales Divisions of VFG, the television and film industry distribution group.
The new company, The Industry Ltd, also immediately becomes market leader in the supply of film, videotape and consumables to the UK television and film industries.
The new Formatt range of filters guarantees purity of image by utilising a unique process known as Absorbing Cell Technology. Traditional filters are made by directly coating dye to the surface of the finest water white Schott optical glass. The nature of glass means that such filters frequently soften or distort the image, and cause an unwanted colour cast.
The new technique allows colour correct dyes to be applied to an optically pure wafer thin absorbing cell. By not coating directly to the glass a precise controllability is obtained, ensuring smooth grad lines and consistent colour across the whole of the filter surface. The repeatable performance gained ensures that, when like-for-like filters have to be swapped mid shoot, there is no discernible difference in colour or density.
