Dreyer Media becomes apt-X licensee

The growing popularity of the APT’s apt-X algorithm has led Germany’s Dreyer Media to sign a licensing deal with the company, enabling it to incorporate apt-X into its range of record/playback radio automation systems.
Dreyer Media is a specialist software developer for radio automation applications and offers technical consultancy to radio stations throughout Europe. As well as developing custom programming for radio stations, the company also acts as European representative and development and technical support partner for ON AIR DIGITAL USA, a division of Smarts Broadcast Systems.
Burkhard Michalsky, head of sales and operations for Dreyer Media’s Broadcast division, said: “APT is regarded as an industry leader and its patented technology is recognized throughout the professional broadcast industry as providing the highest quality audio. Our licensing arrangement with APT gives us the flexibility to incorporate DSP-ready versions of apt-X into our record/playback automation systems. This will be of great benefit to our customers because it will allow them to access the large archives of existing apt-X encoded audio and create new archives using the systems that we are developing for them.”
