IN an effort to broaden their line of MPEG-based products for high quality video distribution, Canopus, the manufacturers of award-winning, non-linear video editing products for video professionals and enthusiasts, have announced the availability of their new MediaEdge product in the UK.
Media Edge is an affordable video networking solution that uses the company's proven MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 compression technology to deliver professional-level video over Local Area Networks (LANs).
Designed specifically to be a flexible, affordable and reliable alternative to VCR/VideoCD-based kiosks and information stations, MediaEdge is used in a standard Windows-based server attached via LAN to multiple Windows-based workstations or set-top boxes. Availability of the new MediaEdge product in the UK will be through Canopus' preferred partner, West London based Online GB, the UK's leading centre for Digital Media Excellence.
Supporting video-on-demand, live broadcast, streaming media applications, and pre-programmed playback, MediaEdge is ideal for high quality video distribution in retail stores, schools, corporations, airports, museums, theatres and other locations where video-based information is used.
MediaEdge's major advantage over traditional kiosks or information stations is how easy it is to update and manage content. With kiosks and information stations, each unit is self-contained and any updates to content must be physically made to each machine.
With MediaEdge, information is simply updated on the server once, and all clients are updated automatically.
MediaEdge clients can also access the MediaEdge server and make requests
