Rascular And Crystal Vision To Demonstrate Compatibility Of IP Systems

News Image
Rascular and Crystal Vision have teamed up for a demonstration at BVE 2019 showing the compatibility of IP systems between suppliers, especially in regard to software and IP routing.

This will highlight the simplicity of IP routing control and how this makes IP technologies viable for small and medium sized businesses.

At the show there will be a demonstration on the Crystal Vision stand of how Rascular's RouteMaster can control Crystal Vision media processor cards running their IP gateway and translator apps – creating a virtual router - working in a network of low-cost switches from different manufacturers. All video flows will be multicast with the routing controlled by standard network protocols.

Using RouteMaster will highlight how this virtual router can be controlled via many standard router control protocols (Pro-Bel, Leitch, BlackMagic etc.) as well as Rascular’s own browser-friendly WebSockets-based protocol. Software panels – both PC- and Web-based – and hardware control panels will be used to demonstrate the flexibility of the control options, alongside automation too. There will also be a demonstration of tie line routing, highlighting the ability to route SDI to IP to Newtek's NDI®.

With this workflow, there's no need for Software Defined Networks (SDNs) or for the controlling device to communicate with the video source devices. We’ll show that routing multicast flows through IP switches can be done with standard router control software talking to the destination devices. By using the standard IGMP protocol, the destination device communicates with its nearest switch and receives the intended video flow.

Some people are still saying that video over IP is complicated and that a single manufacturer has to be given responsibility of getting the system working. We don't agree. Our demonstration clearly shows that IP systems are now suitable for small and medium size installations, as well as large.

The demonstration will be available on Crystal Vision's stand: E50
