ITV DIGITAL’S MONKEY HITS THE BIG SCREEN

ITV Digital's Monkey character hit the big screen on November 16 with the premiere of a new ad and the launch of a set of collectable free movie-themed postcards.
Cinema-goers are able to collect seven postcards featuring Monkey done up in different movie guises, including recognisable characters from ‘Gladiator’, ‘Star Wars’, ‘Billy Elliott’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘The Nutty Professor’, ‘Taxi Driver’, and ‘The Green Mile and Heat’ The reverse of the postcard names the movie to be screened in December and outlines the full movie channel range available with ITV Digital.
Nearly one and a half million postcards, produced by agency Mother and distributed by Boomerang, are racked in 245 cinemas nationwide.
The cinema ad - Monkey's premiere appearance on the big screen - launched alongside the record-breaking movie ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’.
In this latest instalment of the well-received ad campaign, Al and Monkey are pictured discussing that ITV Digital airs more than 700 movies per month. Al, played by comic Johnny Vegas, amuses himself by changing well-known movie titles to include the name 'Monkey'. Fed up with the lame humour, Monkey gets his own back on Al with his hilarious impression of a famous screen villain.
The cinema ad campaign, planned by Naked, includes all regions except Anglia and will run into the new year. The ad will not air on TV until after the cinema campaign - a first for ITV Digital. (CD)
