albert Grows Sustainability Initiative With New Partners

News Image
albert has joined forces with two new partners to to further the work of BAFTA's albert Sustainability initiative across the TV and film industry.

The new partners are Digital Production Office® software providers, Sargent-Disc, and low and zero emission private hire service Green Tomato Cars.

The main focus of the Partnerships is to help albert grow its audiences and share its green values across the industry.

The Partners first involvement is to support a series of albert-led quarterly events. The quarterlies are programme practical craft-led forums providing opportunities for industry professionals to understand how they can make a difference with innovative, sensible and savvy environmental action. With the aim of breathing possibility and optimism for environmental sustainability into every corner of the industry, each event draws a specific community together to celebrate progress, explore possibilities and build excitement, consensus and personal connections.

Held at BAFTA, the first event on 06 July will explore sustainable and ethical costume. With contributions from BAFTA winning industry talent including costume designer Jacqueline Durran, The Costume Directory's Sinead O'Sullivan and Fashion Revolution's Orsolo de Castro, this will be an opportunity for discussion and an introduction to some of the most exciting cleanest, greenest and fairest fabric and fashion out there.

On 12 July, they will explore how to use low-energy lighting to increase creative potential with an esteemed panel including technical director, Steve Howard ('Star Wars: The Last Jedi') and Director of Photography, Vanessa Whyte (BAFTA-winning short, 'The Operator'), as well as an opportunity to hear about the latest advances in lighting technology from Pinewood MBS Lighting, Version 2 Lighting, LED Creative and Aurora Lighting.

Aaron Matthews, Sustainability Manager at BAFTA said: "We are excited to have Green Tomato Cars and Sargent-Disc on board. Having their support makes our quarterly events possible and we look forward to working with them to bring the work of albert to a much wider audience."

Jonny Goldstone, Founder and Managing Director, Green Tomato Cars, added: "We have always enjoyed strong links with the Film and TV sector and this is an exciting new milestone. Our clients understand the importance of tackling climate change and air pollution and we have been proud to join them in doing our bit to raise awareness of environmental issues, while minimising emissions when getting talent and other passengers from A to B. Through this partnership, Green Tomato Cars will work with production companies across the UK to reduce their carbon footprint while helping to contribute to cleaner air in the capital. We are thrilled to be an official Partner of the albert Consortium and look forward to continuing on this critical journey with them and our other member partners."

Dr Laurence Sargent, Director, Sargent-Disc Ltd, said: "Sargent-Disc is delighted to partner with the albert Consortium on their industry events programme to help the film and TV making process become environmentally sustainable. Sargent-Disc is a carbon neutral company, working hard to take the paper out of production. We support the creative endeavours of the film and TV community, their ability to raise finance, their efforts to understand the workforce and its diversity, and their ability to operate efficiently via the Digital Production Office®."
