HOOVER DAM SCHEME PROMOTES SCOTTISH MUSICIANS

THE Glasgow Film Office are joining forces with Sigma Films and The 8 1/2 Short Film Factory to launch the charity Starfish and a new music project Hoover Dam.
Starfish was founded as a registered charity earlier this year, and shares a primary aim with Hoover Dam in that they seek to build and feed the infrastructure of Scotland's creative industries.
Initially Starfish will be running workshops to give under-privileged teenagers, normally deprived of an insight into the creative industries a real opportunity to get involved at a crucial time in their education. Through both performance and technical based workshops with industry professionals, Starfish will address the lack of provision for creative and cultural education within many areas of Scotland, whilst also meeting demand for fresh talent.
Hoover Dam will seek to encourage filmmakers at home and abroad to utilise the talents of Scottish musicians for sound track collaborations. The project will promote and support established and undiscovered talent. (CD)
