ITV Commissions Female Centric Drama Series 'Deep Water'

ITV has announced it has commissioned a six-part drama, 'Deep Water', to be produced by Kudos.

Deep Water is an adaptation of the 'Windermere' series of novels by acclaimed author Paula Daly, and is to be written for screen by Anna Symon ('Indian Summers', 'The Wilsons').

It is a female-centric drama that follows the lives of three women who live in and around the beautiful surroundings of Windermere. The story depicts a modern look at family life, as complex women make difficult choices and attempt to hold themselves and their families together.

ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill, commented: "Anna has cleverly woven together two of Paula's brilliant novels, to create a wonderful modern and layered series. It's about three very different women on their own incredible and often shocking journeys, whose lives connect at the school gates.  It's funny, sexy, truthful and often outrageous, and should have the audience asking what they would do to hold their own family together.  I am delighted to be working with Kudos on this great new series for ITV."

Karen Wilson ('The Tunnel', 'Utopia', 'Hustle'), Diederick Santer ('Tin Star', 'Man in an Orange Shirt', 'Grantchester') and Anna Symon will executive produce the drama. Sue Swift, Head of Books and Adaptations acquired Paula Daly's books for Kudos.

Deep Water will be filmed in the Cumbrian countryside in the autumn of 2018.

The series will be distributed internationally by Endemol Shine International.
