LORD RYDER APPOINTED BBC VICE-CHAIRMAN

DOWNING Street have announced that Lord Richard Ryder of Wensum has been appointed Vice-Chairman of BBC.
He will take up the position on January 1, 2002 for a four-year term. Downing Street also announced that Dame Pauline Neville-Jones’ term as International Governor is being extended by two years until the end of 2003 and that Roger Jones’ term as National Governor for Wales is being extended for one year until the end of 2002.
In a statement BBC Chairman, Gavyn Davies, said: "I greatly welcome the appointment of Richard Ryder as Vice-Chairman and enormously look forward to working with him. His experience and skills will make him an extremely valuable member of the Board of Governors.
I am also pleased that the terms of office of Pauline Neville-Jones and Roger Jones have been extended. They both bring great insight to the Board’s deliberations." (CD)
