B+ MAGAZINE LAUNCH YOUNG TALENT AWARDS
B+ magazine, part of the Broadcast group, are launching a Young Talent Awards event, to recognise and showcase TV and film-making talent in the UK.
The B+ Young Talent Awards will be held at The Production Show, Olympia, on the evening of May 22, 2002.
Judged by a panel of industry experts, from entries nominated by Broadcast and B+ readers, the Awards will reflect elements of both production and post-production including visual effects, editing, directing and writing. Judges will be looking for entrants, under the age of 30 years, who display originality in their work, excellence in their chosen field and the ability to realise and communicate ideas and concepts within specified media.
The ‘Best Young’ Award categories include: Visual Effects Artist (digital compositing, colouring, finishing and most forms of image manipulation); Animator (traditional and CG); Editor (offline, online or film); Audio Engineer (dubbing mixer, track layer); Camera/Lighting Person (DOP, operator); Interactive Designer (web, interactive TV, new media); Director (TV, film, promo or commercial); and Writer (television or film).
There will be eight winners overall who gain the prestigious title of ‘The Ultimate Young Production Team of 2002’, and will be featured in B+. A final Award will also be presented to the company that is judged to have shown the greatest commitment to the development of young film and TV talent.
The Production Show takes place between May 21-23, 2002 at the National Hall, Olympia in London. The Show, which has been running for the past 11 years, consists of an annual exhibition and conference. Running six weeks after NAB in Las Vegas, the Show is a forum for all aspects of the moving picture industry: from film, TV and commercials to music promos, corporate videos and new media. It is the only UK event endorsed by the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers. (CD)
