Blackmagic Design announce Kona SD/HD upgrade plan

Blackmagic Design have announced a programme that allows all Kona HD and Kona SD users to upgrade to DeckLink HD for only US$995.
For two years now Kona SD and Kona HD have been compatible with the Blackmagic Design QuickTime drivers, but as systems get faster, and PCI-X becomes standard on new Apple G5 tower systems, Blackmagic advise that customers should now upgrade to DeckLink HD to take advantage of that speed.
The upgrade provides users with a much faster card with full PCI-X 133/100 MHz speed, HDTV resolution JPEG capture and playback and the ability to instantly switch to standard definition on the same system.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, said: "We really know our Kona SD and Kona HD customers will love this upgrade. They now have a firm answer on the future of their video editing system with the amazing power of DeckLink HD.
"With the more modern design of DeckLink HD, we can provide software based enhancements over time that were just not possible on the older Kona hardware architecture."
