PlayBox Technology Neo Powers Lorac

News Image
Lorac Communications Incorporated (LCI) has announced that it has chosen PlayBox Technology Neo as the core of a new broadcast playout system. It includes two AirBox Neo servers, configured to handle three of its managed cable channels for viewers in the Caribbean & Latin America.

Tony Marchand, Founder and president, Lorac, said: "This investment forms part of a major upgrade to our technical infrastructure. We talked with key suppliers at the NAB Convention in April 2016, including a lengthy discussion with PlayBox Technology.

"The versatility and efficiency of AirBox Neo matched our requirements very closely. It also looked, and indeed proved, easy to install and highly operator-friendly. Further deciding features were the very advanced graphic overlay capabilities provided by the TitleBox Neo module and the flexibility of the ListBox Neo scheduler. We also ordered and installed two SafeBox Neo file storage modules which ensure safe playout by replicating remote content to local playout server folders prior to transmission.

"Our engineers performed the installation themselves and our operators found the system very intuitive to drive without need for formal training. In ergonomic terms, that's as good as it gets."

Brandon Carvalho, Managing Producer, Lorac, added: "We also provide weather services for television viewers in our target region. TitleBox Neo allows us to integrate a large amount of weather information in a very attractive visual style. Better still, it gives us the freedom to adjust practically any element during the live transmission."

And Van Duke, PlayBox Technology USA Director of Operations, also said: "Lorac have proved highly knowledgeable and efficient clients to work with. The speed with which they were up and running speaks very well both of their technical and operational personnel and the simplicity of the Neo user interface."

AirBox Neo adds UHD capabilities to the core PlayBox Technology content playout system which now supports UHD, HD and SD in single server. Recent enhancements include a streaming input supporting HTTP, HTTP Secure, UDP, RTMP, MMS, MMSH and YouTube. RTMP Streaming Output improvements have also been added, allowing easy web streaming.

A virtual output supports multiple instances. Third-party product support was recently extended to Ross NK series routers and the Horita TR-100 timecode reader. Timecode can now be applied to MOV files. Multiple DeckLink cards can be used for multi-channel ad insertion. Enhancements have also been made to the clip trimmer and audio level control.

AirBox Neo is designed for 24/7 unattended operation. It can also be operated manually, including the ability to handle live-to-air throughput.
